Bucky's baby is here. I don't know how I managed to get the boys up and out the door early Tuesday but we had time to go check on Bucky before school. I was so shocked to see a beautiful baby standing beside her!
I think I'll call her Lucky. Bucky lost her last 2 babies. 3 strikes and you're SOLD so Bucky is LUCKY that this baby is alive and well. We don't know what happened to the last two. Her 1st baby was the best colt we had 4 years ago.
In case you don't remember the story about Bucky: Shelly bought a red roan for me one Christmas before Sam was born. He was Hancock bred and I called him Hank. He was only 18 months old and couldn't be ridden. By the time he was old enough to ride I was either pregnant w/ Sam or taking care of him and well, one day Hank was gone... Shelly traded him for Bucky. Hank was my horse so it only made sense that Bucky would be mine. Shelly said I could have the mare but he would get the colts. I was cool w/ that until Bucky lost her 2nd baby Mares that don't have live babies aren't kept around to feed for nothing. Life was hectic last year when Bucky lost her 2nd baby. I took it really hard and blamed Shelly for not taking care of her even though I know he barely has time to ride through and look at all the animals a few times a week much less every day. This year I wanted the baby to make it. Mostly so Bucky would get to stay but a lot because I just needed something to go RIGHT. Shelly told me the morning the baby was born that he was worried he'd have to leave the country if Bucky's baby didn't make it. I promise I wouldn't have put a hit out on him! Mrs. Jackie asked me if the baby would stay or be sold. I don't know the answer but I do know that you can't keep them all. I feel like if one of our babies will reach it's full potential w/ another family then that's where he/she needs to be. I am attached to this one though :)
